muy nervioso

is it normal to be this nervous?

026027

I can’t believe how nervous I feel for my FIRST real race tomorrow. I’m just going to go big and do the 10K. its only 6.2 miles. peace of cake. gosh, anytime I think or talk about this race…I get really nervous. tomorrow should be a lot of fun.

to help calm my nerves this afternoon, Hubby, I and Twogs went for a bike ride.

001
this is my “road” bike, and yes, I have a kick stand. I’m cool.

002
003004

today was Twogees first adventure with the bikes. she did much better than I expected. Hubby almost wrecked only about 3 times.

005
“hurry up Mom!”

006
the pond is slooooooooowly melting.

008010
“ducks!?!”

011012
I will never get tired of these mountains!

013014
015
016
open water! spring is just around the corner.

018019020
twogees getting lovins for doing such a good job. dad seemed to be pretty proud of her.

022
the pups get ice water. twogs loves ice.

023
“stop teasing me! give me the water!”

025
“good stuff momma.”

Twogwotee is still currently going about 100 mph. I can’t believe she hasn’t crashed.

the bike ride was awesome. took my mind off my race tomorrow, but now I’m thinking about it. oh boy…

see you tomorrow after my first race. Open-mouthed smile

st. patty’s day 2011

happy st. patty’s day!

no corn beef and cabbage. I don’t think I’ve ever had it. hm?
I asked Hubby tonight if he’s ever had it, and he responded with “no. have you? is that what’s for dinner?” no!
dinner tonight was new for me. and EASY!!
I saw this on
Julie’s blog. let’s just say the title “easiest pulled pork ever” isn’t a lie! I’m a huge fan of crock pot meals. and holy crap this was easy peasy, not to mention delicious! and we have plenty of leftovers. I love pulled pork and now I’m thrilled that I don’t have to go out to find me some!

I’m usually the person that HAS to wear GREEN today.
but I made an exception this year.

for those of you who don’t live under rocks you know that the ncaa men’s basketball tournament got fully underway today.
yes, I’m that girl who watches every game possible. and now that there are 4 networks carrying the games I thought seriously about figuring out how to hook up all 3 tvs in our house downstairs so I wouldn’t have to flip channels. but no go.

today, no green for me, it was all about the red and black!

014
go aztecs!
they won their first round game by a great margin. onto the round of 32.
yes, I do have a little green on in my buff, but we just got back from the gym…oh and I had on my special pink and green reeboks.

I think spring has officially sprung in sheridan!

002003004

it rained for a decent amount of time yesterday. although this morning I woke up to a little dusting of fresh snow. there have been rain clouds hovering around sheridan all day, but has yet to rain.

after my night of sick-y-ness and a day of rest. I feel much better today. I think little Twogwotee was a little worried about me and bummed that we were stuck inside.

006007013
“mom, are you feeling any better?”

I did get something very exciting (to me at least) in the mail today.

011
hello foam roller!
now I don’t have to look like a goof at the gym anymore. I have my own. I immediately used it after this picture this afternoon. its amazing!

I planned on an easy 3 mile run today. no pressure. I wanted to have a lot left in the tank. I ended up doing 3.1 in 30 minutes and felt really good when I stepped off the treadmill. I’m still back and forth between the 5K and 10K in two days. I get nervous just thinking about it. I can only imagine what I’m going to be like on saturday morning.

tomorrow is rest, relax, more basketball (duke plays tomorrow! cameron crazie!), and a spaghetti dinner.

sick. boo.

last night was NOT fun.
and to boot, Hubby was at work. so I had to fend for myself. let me tell you. going to walmart at 1100pm for emergency tummy medicine when you can barely stand up is not enjoyable.

I get these weird tummy aches. but not very often.

my first tummy ache like this, I had eaten out at subway that night. these tummy aches feel awful. they come out of no where and they aren’t the tummy aches you can just sleep through. these babies wake me up. back to the first one. I felt awful. I’ve never been pregnant, but I would describe the pain the same as a contraction. it builds and builds and builds from a 2 to an 8 on the pain scale. holds at 8 and then relief. the first one I got I was in the process of waking Hubby up to take me to the hospital, and then out of no where I got sick. and felt SO much better after, so I just chalked that instance up to food poisoning.

I have had a few others, and I was able to take tums or zantac to relieve the pain. easy. peasy. but a couple years ago I went to the ER one night because of it. they put a bunch of fluids in me, did blood work, but didn’t find anything out of the ordinary. I felt fine once I had the iv in me. so still no answers.

which brings us to last nights episode. I was super tired an actually was falling asleep while catching up on some tv shows on netflix when I felt one of THOSE tummy aches begin to build. I ran downstairs to look for some zantac. nothing. all out. great! so I popped some tums and came back to bed. but that didn’t slow them down. so I got dressed and head off to walmart to get some emergency zantac. the people at walmart were being extremely slow. I was dying. I hated standing in line. I had to bend over at some points. I got in the car, finally, and popped some medicine.

the pain subsided a little, but it was still there.
I felt like if I could throw up…I would feel better. and that’s what happened.
not fun!

I did feel a little better. at least better to where I could go to sleep.
oh, by the way. its like 1230 by now.

I got to sleep, but woke up again at 2 with a sudden grumbling in my tummy that told me I needed to be in the bathroom. and I ran. more sickness. ugh.

but I felt a little better once again.

I got back to sleep and slept right through to 8 o’clock when Hubby came home from work with a sprite in hand. I’ve been sipping on it, but still feel a little tummy twinge. I may end up making a trip to the store for some saltine crackers.

I had 4-5 miles scheduled for today, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.
I’m still comfortably in bed. Open-mouthed smile and there is no sign of me leaving anytime soon.
gosh I’m lazy.

I’m just hoping to be better by saturday.and now I’m rethinking 5K instead of 10K for the race on saturday.

in the mean time…head on over to see stephanie’s rainbow themed giveaway! she’s awesome!

slim.

meet the another member of our family.

001

he’s man enough to wear pink. Smile he has plenty of girlie colors all over him, because of me. I can’t help it. I don’t have my own girl pony to spoil with all the bright colors and he doesn’t know the difference.

Hubby has had Slim longer than I have been around so I guess someone out ranks me. Winking smilebut I’m ok with that, because I enjoy having him in our family too.

003
004
008

it was “worming” day. he doesn’t care much for it.

009
they LOVE each other.

011
013
014015
016

slim hangs out on a ranch outside of town. he’s surrounded by other horses all day long. it’s a pretty sweet deal. he’s a happy pony.

I went for a run this morning. I even thought about waiting until this afternoon, but the weather hasn’t gotten much better. maybe a little warmer, but it doesn’t feel much warmer. I did the loop at the park again. 5 miles today. and I managed to even improve my minute/mile time again so I was happy. its so much better than running on the treadmill.

please, please go check out Danielle’s giveaway! its super fantastic!

grillin’ & chillin’

another glorious day in sheridan, wyo.

011
005009
003

it was simply amazing.

Hubby and I had a Duke/UNC game to watch this morning. duke won!
we had groceries to be bought. our cabinets were EMPTY.

while at the store I asked Hubby if he wanted to grill this afternoon instead of me making some thing inside. he agreed it would be a great day for grilling.

016
we stocked up on hamburgers and hot dogs.

017018
and started up the grill. redneck style.

022
025026
I’m not sure if Hubby was celebrating…or what he was celebrating?

027028
don’t worry Mom, gannett didn’t really drink any. twogs beat her to it.

030
alcohol always has that effect (affect? I never know) on my facial expressions. it was sure tasty!

032033
mmmmm….

035
my lawn art I found under the snow drift.

037
she just couldn’t stay away from me. first my beer, now my burger.

039041

after we were done shoving our faces with food we took the pups to the park for some fetch play time.

043044045046051054
doesn’t take much to wear them out.

puppies time for dinner. and I’m off to relax some more. no miles recorded yet today and after a few “adult beverages” I don’t know that it will happen today. Smile

7 miles and my first ice bath.

I have started and stopped this post about 3 different times. I’m just having troubles today. I wish there were pictures. ugh!

I meant to make this post yesterday, but just ever got around to it.

also, I apologize for the lack of pictures. I have GOT to get better at taking lots of pictures and not feeling silly about it. I’ve got to get Hubby to start taking pictures too.

yesterday was planned 7 miles. and 7.13 miles I did. in record time!

instead of doing 7 LOONG miles on the treadmill I decided to run the loop at the local park. I mapped it prior to my run so I knew just how many laps I would be doing.

10 laps. that sounds much better than the 28 I would have to do around a track. I wanted a fairly flat surface to really see what my time would be outside. the loop at the park was flat with some little hills, but I didn’t notice them.

I didn’t get to bed early the night before because I stayed up late to watch SDSU boys in their semifinal game of the MWC tournament. and I’m glad I did. it was a close game, but they won by 2. phew!

Hubby also had to work that night, and we all know how well I sleep when I’m home alone. if you remember I had also asked the hubs if he would ride his bike with me while I ran for moral support? well I told him that if it was above 30 when he got off we’d go right at 8. the temperature was hovering right around 25, and I still felt exhausted. so I stayed in bed a little longer….ok….a lot longer. I finally peeled myself out of bed at noon. I can’t wait until Hubby goes to days…regular sleep schedule.

I knew I had to get some food in my belly, so I ate a bowl of oatmeal, drank my pre-run drink and waited patiently for an hour to hopefully prevent any upset stomachs during my run.

before I left I asked Hubby if he wanted to go with. he asked the temperature. I said 43*. he responded with “I was hoping it would be warmer.” well ok then. I’m not going to wait all day to get this done. so I took off for the park.

it was another gorgeous spring day in sheridan. no wind (but it hardly does that). sunshine. the park was buzzing full of people. I kept wondering if people kept seeing me doing laps and wondered how many I was going to do.

dailymile map told me each lap was 0.71 miles. I don’t have a fancy garmin. Sad smile so I just clocked my laps with my normal watch.

here are my lap splits:
lap 1: 6:01
lap 2: 5:52 (wow!)
lap 3: 6:08
lap 4: 6:42 (some walked)
lap 5: 6:40
lap 6: 6:18
lap 7: 7:14 (got an awful side stitch)
lap 8: 6:18
lap 9: 6:21
lap 10: 6:25
total time: 1:04:10

7.13 miles in 64 minutes. averaged a 8:58 minute/mile. really? I averaged a sub 9:00 minute/mile for a long distance? I was thrilled. I was calculating it out over in my head and I thought for sure I’d be over a 9 minute/mile pace.

I came home a quickly decided to do my first ice bath. it really wasn’t as bad as I thought it was. just get in and don’t think about it. I actually will put more ice and water in the next time. ice baths after a long run I think just became my new best friend. I feel great today. no soreness.

yesterday was spent relaxing and recovering. it was nice. we had some errands to do in town, but I wanted to be home by 5pm to watch my SDSU boys play in the championship game against BYU. on Ms. Janae’s blog post yesterday, she had stated that BYU was going to stomped my boys….so I decided to make a friendly bet. a giant bag of skittles….but she was boasting with confidence and added swedish fish. I look forward to enjoying those skittles Janae. Winking smile

on to today. Last night Hubby said we’d go for a bike ride today. we’ll see. I wouldn’t mind a bike ride.

oh…after my 7 miles yesterday? I have fully committed to entering into the 10K race that is happening in sheridan on saturday. oh boy!
