fit fluential ambassador!

I recently joined twitter.

mainly to follow companies such as the forest service (since they often tweet about fires and such).

I came across a company called FIT FLUENTIAL.

I read into it more and knew I wanted to be an ambassador!

I’m always wanting to help people getting fit. I have given much thought to becoming a personal trainer or running coach, but with me living in remote wyoming I would have to travel a decent distance to get certified and right now the travel funds just aren’t there, but where they are…you bet your sweet ass I’ll be looking into certification.

one way to “apply” to become a fit fluential ambassador is to make a photo collage of my life basically! well… here we go.

I truly enjoy sharing my healthy active lifestyle with my family and we don’t just do that by running! we do snow sports, we ride horses, we hike and we enjoy time on the lake!

IMG_0100IMG_0148IMG_0169IMG_2625IMG_2629

we don’t just limit ourselves to our mountains in our backyard. we often travel to places and still manage to stay active. first to south dakota on a 6 mile hike to a fire lookout and then to the shoshone national forest to where my uncle was tragically killed in the 1988 yellowstone wildfires.

DSCN0575DSCN0657DSCN0813DSCN1462

my town of sheridan, wy and my backyard of the bighorn national forest is truly God’s blessing and the best kept secret in wyoming! never a dull site!

I have my “me” time…I keep busy with my own run training.. and also with my job during the summer I’m kept busy with wildland fire which is never a walk in the park!

006021027034DSCN1540

I keep active with my golden, Twogs. She loves to go for runs, walks, and is always in the mountains when we go to explore.

DSCN1538

this is Jaggar and he is our newest addition and he is already super active with us…going everywhere!

I am always changing up gear usage. I have a gym bag that I only keep my workout materials in it! that way I can grab it on the run. I have my workouts planned in advanced and am always working towards a goal!

I try to remain active! being a couch potato is not my strong suit! I am always looking for new adventures and am always up for trying new things and meeting new people!

I want to help people achieve their fitness goals and if I can do that by becoming a Fit Fluential ambassador then please pick me!

pool time=love

yesterday was a cross training first.

I was definitely nervous.

I had plans to go to the pool for my cross training.

but first I hit my gym for my lifting. after taking a few days off due to hunting I was worried that it was going to hurt my lifting progress, but in fact I think it only helped! gave me a chance to give some muscles much needed rest.

I am definitely still a little weak in my arms….but have you seen them. they’re kind of little.

DSCN1296

after my quick lift session…don’t worry I was feeling the burn! I jumped in my car and headed to the YMCA.

DSCN1531

when I first wrote down this workout I didn’t really think it was going to be that tough. but that little note that says “focus kicking from hips” puts a little lot of extra burn in my hip flexors. right where I needed it. I was ready to be done after 5 lengths. but I stuck with it. I worked it out. it took me 45 seconds to go one length with a 30 second rest every time. 25 minutes. my legs felt like jello the rest of the day. but I have to say I absolutely loved this workout and may try to do it every other week instead of just race weeks.

I woke up this morning to a nice warm 27 degrees. decided I’d wait for it to warm up a bit. and it got warm quickly. I got in depth into filing bills away and before I knew it it was lunch time. made some lunch then rest up a bit. ate some toast and drank my jack 3d and forced myself out the door for my 3 miles.

the wind managed to always be blowing in my face now matter which way I ran…that made things fun, but it was a solid run until I got a super weird cramp at 2.25 miles which forced me to walk. ugh! then the up-hills. I force myself to run them as much as I can.

3.13 miles in 26 minutes. not too shabby. managed 2 miles at sub 8s, but that 3rd mile killed me. maybe I need to start out slower. hmm…

I was hot, sweaty, and happy when I got home.

getting back into it

with it getting colder at nights (lows in the 20s and 30s) and staying cooler in the day time (highs in the 50s and 60s) I’ve been waiting until later in the days to do my runs.

today was a chilly one, but it was nice not to be overheating within the first 0.25 miles.

I never felt too hot this afternoon. I actually wished I had some gloves and possibly arm warmers.

it was windy. when I hit my first mile at sub 8 I knew I had the wind at my back and thought it was going to hurt coming back into the wind.

I’m slowly getting back into training, but definitely have a full schedule planned out. this will be my first week of running 3 days! yay…and then I’ll be up to a total of 9 miles this week. ooo big numbers there ashley! but you got to start somewhere when you’ve slacked off for a month.

todays 3 miles was suppose to be at a 8:45/mile average.

I ended up doing 3.25 at 8:17/mile. yeah…the wind MAY have helped…but I ran that mile #2 into the wind and still had a sub 8.

I hit the hill at mile 3…and that’s where I slowed up a little.

BUT get this. 2 weeks ago my legs KILLED up this particular hill. I would have to take multiple walk breaks up it….and guess who now runs up the WHOLE thing with a 9/mile average? this chick. AND no burning thighs.

feels pretty freaking great to dominate that hill!

tomorrow I get in the pool for my cross training. what? really ashley? really! I have decided to get in the pool during race weeks to give my legs a little rest….maybe….maybe the pool is more of a leg workout. I’ll report on that tomorrow!

I also get back on the lifting. yay! I truly believe that this has also helped my legs dominate these hills better.

currently I am watching the dogs play out back. quite the entertainment! Jag Man runs in the dog house…Twogs runs circles in the yard and Jaggar hides, then Twogs runs in the dog house and they bang around and then both dart out and run around then the above sequence is repeated.

I feel so exhausted tonight…totally random, but just thought I’d throw that out there!

my weekend in review

Hubby ended up coming home on Wednesday from his hunting/camping trip. unfortunately he was having issues with his hunting partner and just chose to come home. we decided to go hunting on thursday in a different area, but left late morning because I had a hair appointment.

DSCN1499

surprise! I have bangs now. it’s a change, but I like it!

while I was at my hair appointment, Hubby went to get the horses since we decided to hunt from horseback.

we got out to our hunting area, unloaded and saddled the horses.

DSCN1491

just giving her lovins’ so she behaves for the Hubby. I’m not brave enough to ride her just yet.

DSCN1493

from the back of the boy.

we rode and rode. we ran into some other hunters that hadn’t seen anything and offered another trail where horses would be perfect since it was only a hiking trail and 4-wheelers weren’t allowed. we hit the top of the ridge and looked, but didn’t see anything. got in a good horse ride though.

on the way back into town I sort of decided that I wanted to go deer hunting so we went to a piece of land so I could shooting the Hubby’s rifles to make sure I could do it without killing myself. and I didn’t kill myself. phew.

we went and bought deer licenses that night. deer season was open in some areas already and opened in others on that saturday.

friday we slept in. then we went out bird hunting. Hubby did all the shooting. we ended up coming home with 3 birds. Jaggar got his first taste of bird hunting…and I think he likes it.

DSCN1496

he has no problem putting the birds in his mouth. Twogs (our older golden) acts to good to put a dead animal in her mouth. typical girl!

friday night we went to the high school football game. it was homecoming and we also clinched home field advantage for the playoffs! the game got ugly quick. final score was 55-14…but in our favor.

saturday was EARLY! it was opening day on the mountain for deer and we were up before daylight. we were hiking into an area….along with about 50 other hunters (no seriously!) before the sun came up. we hiked for about an hour and didn’t see anything so we decided to move locations. we didn’t see an elk or deer dead or alive that day. we hunted all day.

we did end up seeing these fellas…

DSCN1506DSCN1507

we actually saw a total of 5, but these two were right off the road. they must have known their season was closed.

DSCN1509DSCN1510DSCN1511

we stopped to let the dogs out to play a little and then eat some lunch. at least we had nice weather.

after lunch we moved locations and decided to sit in an area were there was obvious deer sign.

DSCN1512

I lasted all of 10 minutes maybe before I started to get cold. I’d rather be hiking. so we decided to head back to the truck and try up where Hubby said he saw some earlier that week during elk hunting.

surprise! we didn’t see anything.

hunting fail!

DSCN1503

Jaggar thought hunting was hard work.

sunday we tried bird hunting again and about 10 minutes into hunting Jaggar started whining and crying really loudly. he wouldn’t walk on his back leg. he would try to put weight on it and continued to cry. we didn’t know what he did. so we hauled back into town and called the on call vet and told him the situation. Jaggar was improving slowly. he was putting more weight on it, so the vet didn’t feel it was necessary for us to bring him in, but it was our call. thankfully Jaggar is back to just about 100% today. we still don’t know what happened. we think he may have stretched a muscle or cramped. but he’s not dead and back to acting like a puppy thankfully. he goes in this friday for his 12 week appointment. anyone want to bet on what he weighs?

pretty eventful weekend. phew. I’m pooped just filling you in. Hubby goes back to work tonight for 3 nights and then we may try hunting a different area on his next days off.

trying to get my butt motivated to clean my house and go run. I have a race this weekend! yay! my parents are coming to town this weekend too! yay!

no meat yet.

Hubby called me. so nice to hear from him…actually…he called from a # I didn’t have saved in my phone…and so I let it go to voicemail, so I didn’t actually talk to him. depressing. but he left me a message and he still hadn’t gotten an elk. bummer.

gym session this morning was good. I felt rushed at the end, because I had the dogs in the car and I was starting to worry about them a little. none the less I got it all done.

50 minutes on a spin bike is a lot harder than I always expect it to be. but it feels good to have the quads burning! and get the knees warmed up…hopefully this strengthens that stupid IT band.

I started doing New Rules of Lifting for Women last week. Today was workout 3 of stage 1. A. it seems to be going well. I like it and I like that I have an actual lift plan. usually I just wonder around and just kind of do whatever, so this is new to me. Smile

I’m jumping back into the racing saddle in a little over a week. but I’m not getting to serious about this. I’ll probably end up running the entire time with my mom or dad. we’ll see how I feel on race day. heck I may ditch them both and run my own thing.

this race is called The Link and the money raised goes to the cancer center here in town. and for the race you wear pink since its all about breast cancer awareness! Its either a 5k or 10k. I opted for the 5k. I walked this route last year…so I know the race route and I know the uphills to it! I ran this route + another mile yesterday and the hills actually felt better than I expected. so we’ll see how that pesky IT band feels come race day!

sorry for the lack of pictures, maybe I can get some of my fur babies running around with my sweet “smart” phone!

lonely week

Hubby is currently out hunting.
I would get much into that for those of you that don’t like it.

I was suppose to go with, but the weather conditions kind of turned to winter a few days before we were scheduled to head up the mountain and having the dogs sleep in the truck at night…I just didn’t feel comfortable that little Jag Man could keep himself warm enough, so I decided to stay behind with the dogs.

so…while Hubby’s been away since sunday, I’ve been cleaning the house like crazy and hitting the gym getting back into training and trying to get my fitness back to the level it was before I took a month off because of a weird knee pain. which I think is just a tight IT band. I feel like I am constantly rolling on my foam roller.

Hubby has the camera…so I’m kind of photo-less.

although…I have been checking into something else while Hubby has been gone.

image

I have been looking into maybe taking a cruise.
reading
meghann’s posts about her lovely cruise have made me insanely jealous. and have really kind of changed my opinion about the idea of a cruise.

we’ll see what it all brings. I know Hubby and I were talking about cruises before he went on his great hunt, so it won’t be a surprise to him when he comes back!

well..cross training and lifting seem to be calling my name! maybe I’ll be back later in the day….let you know how my cleaning is coming. Winking smile
